Made in the USA…not anymore.

However, I wish that I’d paid more attention to the smaller items that I purchased. It turns out that the Jumbo Candy Cane that I put in my daughters stocking was made in China. I had to throw it away, since I am unwilling to take the chance of poisoning my daughter. After noticing that, I began looking on all of her toys just to see if anything was made in the USA. Here are the results Fisher Price – Made in Mexico and China, Mattel – Made in China, Walmart Stores – Made in China, Indonesia, Mexico, and everywhere outside of the USA. I watched a man speaking on the news, right before Christmas, about how only about 5% of toys we buy here are manufactured in the USA. We get 90-95 percent of our toys from China. This is so sad to me, but if you want your child to have toys, you are simply going to have to buy them. The big companies like Mattel and Fisher Price have completely sold out to overseas. I wasn’t completely disenheartened. I picked up her Crayola crayons and noticed that they were made in the good ol’ USA. Thanks Crayola! A Fancy Nancy board game, made by Round Table Toys, I bought was also made in the USA, but that’s about it. I’m going to make a conscious effort this year to read packaging, and I’m only going to buy toys made in the USA if at all possible. I suppose the worst thing that could happen is my daughter will be a Fancy Crayon Artist…LOL! I’m definitely going to pay attention to the candy I buy, because there was nothing worse than telling my daughter she couldn’t eat a Christmas staple candy cane, because it might be bad for her. Hmmmm…no more toys and candy canes for Christmas, because it could kill you or your children. That’s something to think about….
